Body identified as missing woman

A woman found dead Thursday in Port Hope, Ont., was identified Friday by police as Madison (Madi) Chard, a 29-year-old woman who was reported missing April 19.

Her body was found in a wooded area, police said.

Port Hope Police are investigating how she died, with the help of Northumberland OPP.

Mark Chard, Madison’s dad, wrote on Facebook early Friday that the family had called off the search for his daughter.

“Day 31: Please take down all posters of our beautiful Madison,” Mark wrote. “She’s at rest with the angels.

“Thank you to everyone who tried to help in this very broken world. Leave our family to grieve and if you have any information, contact the police so our daughter can rest in peace.”
