KYPER’S KORNER

■ The news out of Ottawa regarding defenceman Thomas Chabot doesn’t sound promising. After going hard into the boards vs. Seattle on Sunday night, there’s a fear he may have suffered a fracture. He’s not expected to return to the lineup until the New Year.

■ While there may be some league interest in trading for Oilers defenceman Philip Broberg, it’s debatable how good the return could be. One NHL executive told me if the Oilers are serious about changing their blue line they’ll need to get creative on a deal that includes their first-round pick.

■ The Las Vegas Sphere is booked for one last NHL Draft hurrah before decentralizing the following year. It’s unclear if commissioner Gary Bettman got his owners a discount rate from Rangers owner James Dolan who also heads the Sphere. Some insiders have the two-day rental fee in the $3million (U.S.) range.
