Minister backs Olympics bid

Canada’s sport minister Carla Qualtrough says she hopes to see the Haudenosaunee Nationals compete in lacrosse under their own flag at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. That would require the IOC to make an exception to a rule that permits only teams playing as part of an official Olympic commit- tee. The Haudenosaunee are a col- lection of six nations whose territo- ry covers parts of Ontario, Quebec, and upstate New York. Formerly known as the Iroquois Nationals, they have competed at internation- al lacrosse events since 1990.
